Evaxion reported three-year immune and clinical follow-up for its personalized EVX-01 cancer vaccine on October 23, ahead of an October 24 presentation at the ESMO Congress. The company said 89% of selected vaccine targets generated tumor-specific immune responses.
The SEC-filed announcement covered a small Phase 2 advanced-melanoma study. Six of the 12 responders entered the one-year extension, so the durability signal remains early and cannot establish efficacy in a larger population.
EVX-01 data extend an earlier response signal
At two years, Evaxion reported a 75% objective response rate, equal to 12 of 16 patients, including a 25% complete-response rate. The company said 92% of responders were still responding and 15 of 16 patients had tumor reduction.
During the extension, six responders received EVX-01 alone after earlier combination treatment with Merck’s Keytruda. Evaxion said those patients maintained their clinical responses with no observed progression through year three. The limited cohort and lack of a control arm constrain comparisons.
AI platform selected personalized vaccine targets
EVX-01 uses Evaxion’s AI-Immunology platform to choose tumor-specific neoantigens for each patient. The company said the measured target hit rate increased from 86% at two years to 89% after additional samples from the extension.
The result gives investors a clinical readout on an AI-designed therapy, but it differs from commercial AI revenue already visible in companies such as Infosys. Drug-development timelines also carry clinical, manufacturing and regulatory risks that do not apply to conventional software deployments.
What investors should watch next
Evaxion plans a webinar on October 29 to discuss the three-year data. Investors should watch for study expansion, larger controlled trials, partnership terms and regulatory feedback rather than treating response durability as proof of approval.
The company said its cash runway extends well into the second half of 2027. Broader healthcare indicators, including Quest Diagnostics demand and Danaher life-science results, provide sector context but do not validate EVX-01.
