The Ethereum Glamsterdam upgrade will not activate on the Hoodi testnet on October 26 as previously scheduled. The Ethereum Foundation announced the postponement on October 22, separating the new decision date from the canceled activation date.

Ethereum Glamsterdam upgrade loses Oct. 26 activation

Core developers agreed to delay the Hoodi testnet activation during All Core Developers Execution meeting 248. The Ethereum Foundation announcement said the additional time will support investigation into how EIP-8037 interacts with mainnet smart contracts.

The superseded plan targeted October 26 at 17:42:48 UTC, corresponding to epoch 132,352. It combined the Amsterdam execution-layer upgrade with the Gloas consensus-layer upgrade and would have raised Hoodi’s gas limit to 200 million at the same epoch.

Fusion Market News previously covered the October 26 Hoodi activation plan and the earlier Glamsterdam testnet schedule. Those dates are no longer valid, and there is no replacement epoch or timestamp in the revised configuration.

The change rolls back a future configuration rather than reversing Hoodi’s existing chain history. It also does not establish a mainnet activation date, so traders should not interpret the postponement as a rollback of the Ethereum network.

Ethereum Glamsterdam upgrade requires operator checks

Hoodi node and validator operators must review both execution-layer and consensus-layer client instructions before October 26. Configurations that still reference the old activation should be updated using releases whose notes explicitly confirm removal of the scheduled Glamsterdam fork.

The Foundation cautioned operators against assuming that releases listed in the original announcement already contain the postponement. Client teams are publishing revised guidance separately, and validator operators should also check builder infrastructure and external block-building tools.

Application developers should not plan Hoodi testing around the canceled date. The Foundation said a revised Ethereum Glamsterdam upgrade schedule will be announced later, while no action is required from Ethereum mainnet users or ETH holders.

The postponement is a testnet coordination change, not a price catalyst by itself. Readers comparing Hoodi work with scaling activity can review how Ethereum Layer 2 networks reduce transaction costs.
