Deposits and business lending continue to grow

Total deposits increased to $13.14 billion from $12.68 billion in the second quarter and $12.06 billion a year earlier. Business loans grew by $346.6 million sequentially and $929.1 million year over year.

Dime ended the quarter with $2.2 billion of cash and an 83% loan-to-deposit ratio. The reported efficiency ratio improved to 48.4% from 53.8% a year earlier, while return on average assets rose to 1.10%.

Higher rates create opportunity and risk

Management expects additional net interest margin expansion as loans reprice through 2027. However, higher rates may pressure borrowers and commercial real estate credit, making asset quality an important counterweight to revenue growth.

The results add to recent financial-sector signals from Atlantic Union’s loan growth, Synchrony’s purchase volume and Equifax’s consumer-credit data business. Investors should watch deposit costs, loan repricing and credit provisions.
