Gevo expects its carbon business to generate more than $50 million of revenue in 2026. The company issued the forecast on October 22 in an official business update.

Gevo carbon revenue gains from credit sales

Gevo sold nearly all banked Canadian credits generated during 2025 and the first half of 2026. Management said those transactions unlocked about $20 million from previously delivered low-carbon ethanol volumes.

The company expects its carbon operations to contribute $30 million annually at current production rates and market conditions. It also sold $70 million of Section 45Z tax credits for 2026. Gevo treats those federal credits separately from its carbon-business revenue forecast.

North Dakota expansion could lift output

Gevo said debottlenecking should raise ethanol capacity and carbon capture by 10% to 15%. Commissioning is expected during the fourth quarter, supporting higher 2027 output.

A larger North Dakota expansion targets 150 million gallons of annual ethanol capacity. It could also store more than 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide yearly. Management expects a final investment decision in the fourth quarter, with completion targeted for 2028.

The expansion remains forward-looking and depends on financing, execution and carbon-market conditions. Related coverage includes Valero’s refining results, NextEra Energy’s renewable backlog, and U.S. rooftop solar growth.
