Amerant Bancorp reported higher third-quarter profit as net interest income increased and credit metrics improved. The bank released the results after the market closed on October 22, 2026, before its October 23 earnings call.

Amerant Earnings Rise as Margin Expands

Amerant’s third-quarter release showed net income increasing 22.2% from the second quarter to $25.7 million. Diluted earnings per share rose 22.6% to $0.65, while return on average assets improved to 1.00% from 0.84%.

Loans Grow While Deposits Decline

Total gross loans increased 3.0% to $7.1 billion, but total deposits declined 1.3% to $8.2 billion. The loan-to-deposit ratio consequently rose to 85.78% from 82.17%, an important funding measure to watch if lending continues to expand.

Amerant’s quarterly pattern differs from the broader scale shown in Capital One’s earnings. Investors can also compare its margin changes with First National’s record quarter and the servicing-driven results at Rithm Capital.

Credit Quality and Capital Remain in Focus

Non-performing assets declined by $27.1 million to $159.5 million, while classified loans fell 22.0% to $213.0 million. Amerant attributed much of the reduction to loan payoffs, but special-mention loans increased 10.0% to $120.7 million.

The allowance for credit losses rose to $94.8 million from $85.5 million, and the provision increased 30.5% to $6.2 million. Amerant also repurchased about $2.0 million of stock and declared a $0.09 quarterly dividend payable November 27 to holders of record on November 13.
