AkzoNobel Q3 results showed a sixth consecutive quarter of margin expansion as pricing offset softer volumes and currency pressure. The coatings company reported €2.54 billion in revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, broadly unchanged from €2.55 billion a year earlier.

Adjusted EBITDA increased to €388 million from €385 million, while the adjusted EBITDA margin widened to 15.3%. AkzoNobel maintained its full-year profitability outlook and said its planned merger with Axalta remains on track.

AkzoNobel Q3 results show pricing support

AkzoNobel’s October 21 company release said organic sales grew 2%, driven by pricing. Reported revenue was €2.538 billion, compared with €2.547 billion in the third quarter of 2025.

Adjusted EBITDA increased by €3 million on a reported basis and by €15 million organically. The margin improvement continued despite the deconsolidation of the company’s Russian operations and the divestment of its Pakistan business.

Operating income was a €73 million loss, compared with a €29 million loss a year earlier. AkzoNobel said the comparison reflected portfolio changes, while net cash from operating activities was €187 million versus €331 million in the prior-year period.

AkzoNobel Q3 results keep 2026 outlook intact

Management expects about €100 million of constant-currency adjusted EBITDA improvement for 2026. That implies full-year adjusted EBITDA near €1.47 billion, based on year-end 2025 exchange rates and adjusted for Asian divestments.

AkzoNobel also signed binding agreements to sell its Decorative Paints business in Southeast Asia for $1.35 billion, equal to 21 times its 2025 EBITDA. The company targets leverage near two times net debt to adjusted EBITDA by year-end.

The Axalta merger remains subject to regulatory approvals, with closing expected in early 2027. Related European company updates include Edenred’s Q3 revenue report, Bureau Veritas’ growth update, and Randstad’s regional revenue results.
