  • TSMC Q3 earnings showed U.S. dollar revenue rising 41.2% from a year earlier to $46.72 billion.
  • Two-nanometer chips generated 8% of wafer revenue, while advanced nodes produced 79%.
  • TSMC guided fourth-quarter revenue to $52.3 billion–$54.3 billion, above the third-quarter result.

TSMC Q3 earnings accelerated as demand for leading-edge chips lifted revenue and profit. The company’s October 15 release covered the quarter ended September 30, separating the event date from the reporting period.

TSMC Q3 earnings beat prior-quarter revenue

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing reported NT$1.494 trillion in revenue and NT$763.06 billion in net income. Revenue rose 50.9% from a year earlier and 17.6% from the second quarter. Net income increased 68.7% year over year, while diluted earnings reached NT$29.43 per share.

In U.S. dollars, revenue reached $46.72 billion, up from $40.20 billion in the second quarter and $33.10 billion a year earlier. The accompanying chart uses those three company-reported figures.

TSMC Q3 earnings show first 2nm contribution

Two-nanometer production accounted for 8% of wafer revenue after contributing 3% in the second quarter. Three-nanometer chips generated 33%, while 5nm and 7nm contributed 28% and 10%. TSMC said advanced technologies at 7nm and below represented 79% of wafer revenue.

High-performance computing produced 68% of net revenue, up from 66% in the previous quarter. That mix keeps TSMC tied closely to AI infrastructure demand, alongside developments in Nvidia’s agent models and accelerated financial-data processing.

Fourth-quarter guidance raises the revenue bar

TSMC projected fourth-quarter revenue of $52.3 billion to $54.3 billion. It forecast a gross margin of 65%–67% and an operating margin of 56.5%–58.5%. The midpoint implies about $53.3 billion in revenue, or roughly 14% above the third quarter.

The outlook signals continued semiconductor demand, though margins may remain sensitive to the initial 2nm ramp. For the regional backdrop, see the IMF’s assessment of Asia’s AI chip boom. TSMC’s October 15 earnings release and quarterly results page provide the underlying figures.
