Cadence Design Systems raised its 2026 outlook after third-quarter revenue increased 22% from a year earlier, helped by demand for chip-design and AI tools.
The company reported $1.633 billion in revenue for the quarter ended September 30, up from $1.339 billion in the same period of 2025. Cadence published the results on October 26, separating the reporting date from the quarter-end date.

AI tools support design-software demand
Cadence said core electronic design automation revenue grew 20%, semiconductor intellectual-property revenue rose 24%, and system design and analysis revenue increased 30%. The company linked demand to AI-driven designs, advanced packaging, memory and hyperscale computing.
Its Maestro models target chip and system design, while Cadence reported more than 100 active customer engagements for its AI Super Agents. The update adds another data point to the infrastructure cycle covered in Fusion’s reports on NVIDIA and Nokia’s AI-RAN work and Hyperscale Data’s 2027 outlook.
Backlog offers visibility but margins narrow
Cadence ended the quarter with an $8.2 billion backlog. It expects to recognize $4.2 billion of remaining performance obligations over the next 12 months.
However, GAAP operating margin narrowed to 26.2% from 31.8%. Investors must also weigh execution, customer demand, export controls and the timing of hardware deliveries. Similar demand themes appeared in Dover’s AI and power-market results.
